Congratulations to Mike and Priscilla Smith upon the successful first flight of their amateur built Jabiru J230. Jabiru Aircraft are a real Australian aviation success story - engineered and manufactured in Bundaberg. The J230 is an all composite construction aircraft powered by a six cylinder 3.3 Litre air-cooled aviation engine. Watts Bridge is a great airfield for first flights due to the long wide grass runways, ample facilities such as AVGAS on field and plenty of hangarage. Expect to see a lot more of Mike and Priscilla's Jab as they fly off the hours required for full registration.
2011 has been a great year for on-field development with three major construction projects underway or nearing completion.
The Freeman's Hangar provides quality secure hangarage for an additional 6-10 aircraft.
The construction of two more air chalets by Phillip Cooper and Bob Dennis sees an ever expanding utilization of the airfield.
And it is rumored that at least another chalet should be completed by Christmas 2011.
As they say.... "Watch this space !!"
