Meet the BoM 2019 - Gill Vardi, Peter Freeman, Shane Tobin, Richard Waugh, Peter Biddle.

A single word best captures the mood of the Watts Bridge 2018 Annual General Meeting: ENGAGEMENT.
With a membership of approximately 140 individuals and corporate entities, it was remarkable that more than 120 votes were cast for each resolution and board position.
This can only mean one thing: The members of Watts Bridge are indeed keenly interested in the current and future directions of the airfield and wish to have their voices heard.
It was a long day with a General Meeting in the morning, held in the AAC-QC Clubrooms and the Annual General Meeting held in the QWVAA Clubrooms in the afternoon. In due course the meeting minutes will no doubt detail the outcome of the many motions on notice. However, what's of more immediate importance are the results of the election of the 2019 Board of Management. There were multiple candidates for each BoM position, decided by a secret ballot. A slow process perhaps, but this, after all, was democracy in action.
And so the BoM for 2019 is.....
At the conclusion of the meeting, when all the decisions had been decided and all officials elected, QWVAA generously provided light refreshments for those who needed them. All in all most everyone agreed it was a good day for the future of the airfield.
As an aside, the volunteers responsible for mowing the airfield decided that the 2018 AGM would be an excellent opportunity to display the privately owned and maintained equipment which is used along with the association's equipment to keep the airfield in tip-top condition.

The final Watts for Breakfast?? in 2018 was by far the most successful ever held at the airfield!
With 40 aircraft (maybe more) occupying the tie-down lines, the morning felt more like a regional fly-in than a two hour pop-up kitchen.
Well known fact: Sunday aircraft invariably bring hungry pilots, many with passengers, resulting in 139 plates filled with sausages, bacon, eggs and other breakfast goodies being served up by the volunteer chefs.
Watts For Breakfast is not intended to be a regular monthly event. Rather, it is held to fit around the activities of other airfield's fly-ins and breakfasts so that pilots, and and indeed all aviation enthusiasts, have the opportunity of having somewhere to go to most all times of the year. The best bet is to keep a keen eye on the Watts Bridge Calendar and Facebook to find out about future breakfast fly-ins.
Since the Watts for Breakfast event in early September this year, work to improve the facility being established in the shelter shed has continued. A reinforced concrete area has now been laid at the front and the runway side of the container donated by Bob Dennis. This will provide a clean, firm and tidy area for the placement of the BBQ's, other cooking equipment and serving area for further such events.
WBMA Maintenance Officer Peter Freeman is pleased to report that membership interest has helped considerably in achieving this latest improvement. Brian Fitch, Peter Biddle, Craig Thomsen, Mark Foy, Ken Hulse, Ron Dunn, Bob & Robyn Dennis have all contributed at various times to the effort.
The outside of the container will see a clean up and a fresh coat of paint. Further power points in the area adjacent to the container are also being considered.

Well: It may be the better part of a year since the last breakfast at Watts, but judging by the excellent turnout this weekend, pilots and partners are always ready to go fly somewhere on a fine and sunny Sunday morning. It depends a bit upon who you listen too, but at a dead minimum there were 22 or perhaps more aircraft on the flight line and definitely 55+ breakfasts served up!
This was the first Watts For Breakfast to take advantage of all the work that has been done in the shelter shed by Mark Purdie and Peter Freeman, and what a difference it makes!! Purpose built facilities just make it so much easier and comfortable all round.

Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield is strongly committed to a "Fly Neighbourly" policy ensuring good working relationships with other land owners in the district.
Pilots are requested to download the Fly Neighbourly Chart to be aware of and avoid where operationally possible, noise and over-fly sensitive locations adjacent to the airfield.
Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield requests that all members and visitors using the airfield's internal roads adhere to the signposted maximum Speed Limit of 20kph.
The Speed Limit maximises safety for all motorists and pedestrians, significantly reduces damage to the airfield's roadways and minimises the generation of dust which has an adverse affect on aircraft, buildings and human health.
